Agency News — November 2021

Written by Malachi Koop | Nov 30, 2021 10:32:03 PM

We're proud to share the following advancements and new additions to our growing team. Read on for a bit of background on each person, and be sure to reach out to congratulate everyone on their new (or expanded) positions.

Latest Promotion at SimpScar

Eve Scherpenberg (she/her/hers) has been promoted to Senior Copywriter. In her expanded role, she'll elevate our client's messaging work in broader ways and be more strategically involved in our digital and content strategy deliverables. She'll also take on more leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and editing our junior writers' deliverables.

Eve's most excited about mentoring some of the new team members and is proud of the growth that the content team has shown in seamlessly collaborating across deliverables, bouncing ideas back and forth, and supporting each other. She said it's indicative of the culture we've tried to build across the agency — especially as we all continue to adapt to a fully remote work environment. She's also excited to see how some of our recent hires will both diversify our work and enable us to take on additional long-term integrated projects, ranging from media strategy to large-scale website redesigns.

But by far, the most exciting news about Eve is that she recently began her maternity leave as she & her husband are about to welcome their first baby into the world!

New Additions to the SimpScar Team

Kristie Colón (she/her/hers) joins us as our newest Account Director, where she'll be leading our higher ed clients through a collaborative and data-driven process to create compelling, innovative, and sustainable campaigns that bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be.

Most recently, Kristie led comms for the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. She's also worked extensively with biotech and healthcare startups in Silicon Valley and was drawn to SimpScar because of its place at the intersection of innovation and higher education.

Kristie holds a BA in English & Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University, where she transferred after a semester elsewhere. That experience taught her that where you get your degree is much more than its ranking — it's about how you feel while you're there.

Outside of work, Kristie's a bourbon aficionado — so much so that she started a local bourbon club where she's based in Lexington, KY. But prior to that, she's counted an eclectic list of places home — Houston, Florida, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Idaho, and even a year in Saudi Arabia.

Eryka Wallace (she/her/hers) joins our team as a Strategist, where she'll help clients connect research and creative to build sustainable strategies for success. She believes that creative problem solving and challenging the status quo are the building blocks to strategic marketing and communications. (Couldn't have said it better ourselves!)

Eryka holds an MA in Strategic Communications & Leadership from the University of West Florida and her BA in Mass Communications & Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi. She most recently served as a Marketing Strategist for Clemson University before joining our team.

Eryka considers herself an amateur mixologist/bartender/barista, and —if you're keeping track at home — that means we've added an aspiring sommelier, bourbon club founder, and now mixologist to our team in recent months. She lives by the statement, "bloom where you're planted," and is part of the growing contingent of teammates who call Greenville, SC home.

Matthew Treadwell (he/him/his) is our newest Research Analyst and will be supporting the survey design and methodology for decision-making. He's also currently a graduate student at Montclair State University, where he's studying social research & analysis. Prior to that, Matthew earned his Bachelor's in Economics from Stockton University.

In addition to bringing new perspectives to our growing research & analytics team, he also shares our convictions for higher education's incredible impact on our society. One of his own transformational experiences in higher education was taking a course that was supposed to be just a fill-in for credits that ultimately connected him to his mentor, who helped him navigate his academic career and life itself. Matthew has seven brothers and one sister (he jokes that Christmas gets a bit expensive) and is based in Galloway, NJ.

We always say this, but we really mean it. We're so proud to have such incredible people working for us. The combination of talent, creativity, and genuine kindness in our people is such a reflection of the industry we exist to serve and advance. Be sure to reach out and congratulate these individuals on their new & expanded roles.
