SimpsonScarborough is pleased to announce the selection of four CASE SimpsonScarborough Scholars for 2016. Launched in honor of our late founding partner Christopher Simpson, the program supports the professional development of promising higher ed marcomm practitioners with CASE Premier-level member benefits, access to customized research through CASE’s InfoCenter, attendance at the Summer Institute for Communications and Marketing, and more. This year’s scholars are:
Daniel Erwin
Development Client Manager and Marketing Project Manager, University of San Francisco
Roles and responsibilities: Key project lead in Office of Marketing Communications for multi-channel Development marketing projects, including high profile events, annual solicitations, stewardship pieces, and fundraising campaigns.
Nominated by: David Macmillan, Anneliese Mauch, and Peter Wilch for quality of work, commitment to and knowledge of university’s mission and values, and strong working relationship with colleagues. Wilch wrote: “Dan embodies the University of San Francisco’s Jesuit mission. He leads with both his heart and mind, bringing high standards and a collaborative approach to his work.”
Caitlin Garzi
Associate Director of Digital Marketing, Cheshire Academy
Roles and responsibilities: Develops, manages, and tracks digital marketing campaigns, manages products that enhance the online user experience, implements techniques to enhance digital value, and manages the design of the Academy’s website.
Nominated by: Stacy Jagodowski for exceptional work in enhancing the Academy’s digital strategies, exceeding expectations in her first year on the team. Jagodowski described Caitlin as “diligent, hardworking, strategic, and purposeful,” calling her “the type of team member we all wish we could have.”
Monica Njoku
Assistant Director, Alumni Integrated Communications, University of San Francisco
Roles and responsibilities: Collaborates with internal departments to streamline alumni messaging; creates, writes and edits content for social media; writes copy for event communications; works with members of the alumni engagement team to strategize outreach and communications around events and programs.
Nominated by: Jay Le Roux Dillon for her expertise, creativity, and honest and direct approach to creating innovative alumni communications. “I have found that passion and empathy are the two most important traits to look for in hiring new staff,” wrote Dillon. “And Monica checks both of those boxes.”
Lauren Powers
Communications Specialist, Emory University, Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing
Roles and responsibilities: Develops and implements internal and external communications, manages the school’s social media presence and digital brand, serves as internal marketing, branding and social media consultant, and maintains school’s website and microsites.
Nominated by: Jasmine Hoffman and Elizabeth Powell for leadership, innovation, and motivation. Hoffman describes her as “one of the most impressive young professionals I have seen throughout my career.”
